Terms of use

Short, because there isn't much to agree to — you're running client-side tools against your own files.

What this is

Headroom is a free set of browser-based tools for creating, inspecting, previewing, and converting HDR and standard images. Processing happens locally in your browser, as described in the privacy policy. There is no account, subscription, or payment involved in using the tools themselves.

Your content

You retain all rights to any image you process here. We never receive a copy of it, so we have nothing to claim rights over. You're responsible for having the right to use and modify whatever you upload into these tools.

No warranty

The tools are provided as-is. Format support, HDR detection, and color-space handling are implemented against publicly documented specs and tested where a verified fixture exists — see the honesty conventions used throughout this site (GOOD / WARNING / UNKNOWN, not guesses) — but no output is guaranteed to be fit for any particular professional, broadcast, or archival purpose. Verify anything you rely on for critical work.

In particular: exported files are round-trip validated by the tool itself before you're allowed to download them, which catches structural encoding failures — it does not certify color accuracy against a calibrated reference display, which this software has no way to access.

Availability

This is a small, actively developed project. Tools, pages, and specific format support may change, and nothing here is guaranteed to remain available indefinitely.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the update will be reflected on this page directly — there's no separate mailing list or account to notify, since none exists.
